Short Story:
Nolan and Andrea met on a blind date on April 17, 2010 (blind dates really do work!!). In June, they began dating, and then over Halloween weekend they decided to get married. A couple weeks later, Nolan proposed, and they set the date for March 4th.Long Story:
(For those of you who love the juicy details. :-))
Nolan and Andrea met on a blind date, as already stated. Only, it wasn't really a date. To protect the innocent (or not so innocent... :-)), the collective group who set Andrea and Nolan up will be called "Steve."
Steve arranged with Andrea to have a date with Nolan, but forgot to tell Nolan about it until the day of, then forgot to mention there was a girl involved until right before they picked her up. To prevent things from getting awkward, Steve decided it should no longer be a date, but only an activity with friends.
Needless to say, the night was very awkward, and Andrea quickly put the event from her mind. Nolan, on the other hand, decided he wanted to ask Andrea out. He went to work to get her number through Steve, and a month later, called her. She couldn't remember who he was. Nolan was persistent, however, and after two months, when Andrea realized how awesome Nolan was, they started dating.
By the beginning of September, they knew they wanted to marry each other, but neither said anything. It wasn't until Halloween weekend that anything was brought up. This is how that went:
Nolan and Andrea drove to Vegas to spend time with Mardi, a missionary with whom Andrea served her mission. One night, while Andrea was out of the room, Mardi asked Nolan if he and Andrea had set a date to be married. Nolan's response: "Not yet," to which Mardi replied, "Why not? You love each other. Why put it off?" Later that evening Nolan brought up the topic, and they decided to get married. (They found out later that Mardi had started to worry she shouldn't have said anything - that it would lead to them breaking up. This wasn't the case, and Andrea and Nolan are very grateful to Mardi for bringing up the topic!)
Nolan asked Andrea's father for her hand in marriage, then on November 7th, they announced to families and friends their engagement. (Before even going ring-shopping!) Nolan picked up the ring (which he and Andrea picked out), and put together a plan to officially ask her to marry him. All of that was set aside when a blizzard came through town. He determined to ask her that night anyway. They cooked dinner together, watched Better off Ted, then Nolan got on one knee and asked Andrea to marry him. She was happy he didn't ask her in public. :-)
Nolan and Andrea are excited to start a life together. Their first home will be in Murray, Utah.
